Physical and chemical properties of sodium hydrosulphide(NAHS)
1. Physical properties
Appearance: Sodium hydrosulfide is usually a white or light yellow crystalline powder. It may also be a colorless to yellow, deliquescent crystal with a hydrogen sulfide odor.
Melting point: The melting point of anhydrous sodium hydrosulfide is 350°C; the melting point of the hydrate is lower, at 52-54°C. However, some data show that the melting point of sodium hydrosulfide is 55°C.
Density: The density of sodium hydrosulfide is 1.79 g/cm³, or 1790 kg/m³.
Solubility: Sodium hydrosulfide is easily soluble in water and alcohol, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. According to some data, the solubility of sodium hydrosulfide in water is 620g/L at 20°C.
2. Chemical properties
Acidity and alkalinity: The aqueous solution of sodium hydrosulfide is alkaline.
Reaction with acid: Sodium hydrosulfide releases hydrogen sulfide gas when it meets acid. The reaction equation is: NaHS + H+ → H2S↑ + Na+.
Reaction with sulfur: Sodium hydrosulfide can react with sulfur to form polysulfides, the reaction equation is: 2NaHS + 4S → Na2S4 + H2S.
Reducibility: Sodium hydrosulfide is a commonly used reducing agent that can undergo redox reactions with many oxidants.
3. Other properties
Stability: Sodium hydrosulfide is a stable compound, but it is hygroscopic. At the same time, it is also a flammable solid and may ignite in the air.
Toxicity: Sodium hydrosulfide is toxic to a certain extent and harmful to the human body and the environment. Therefore, special attention should be paid to safety protection during use and storage.
At present, the company is vigorously expanding overseas markets and global layout.
